It is with great sadness that we share the news that Bill Scharff passed on September 18 at the age of 73. Known as “Omar” by his friends, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Bill was the Sales Manager for Suzuki Motorcycles for 40 years where he managed the local NY/NJ area. He will be greatly missed.

William R. Scharff, Jr., known affectionately by many as “Omar,” passed quietly in the early morning of Thursday, September 18, 2025, to be with our Lord. He was born on February 15, 1952, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and countless friendships.
William enjoyed a remarkable 38-year career with Suzuki, during which he cultivated numerous friendships that shaped his professional years. He regarded both colleagues and customers as family, maintaining connections with many until his final days. His dedication to service and his friendly demeanor made a lasting impression on those he encountered.
Sports were a significant passion for William, and he was an avid fan of all the New York teams, especially the Giants and Mets. Those who knew him well can attest that he approached friendship with an open heart; he was your friend for life, always eager to lend a hand or take an interest in your life. He was also a loving dog owner, cherishing the companionship that his pets brought to his world.
William was a beloved husband to Doreen M. Scharff, with whom he shared an extraordinary 47 years of marriage. The couple’s love story began at Kawasaki in New Jersey, leading them on their first adventure together to Nebraska for five years where they were wed and built a family. Their journey was filled with laughter, love, and a spirit of adventure that echoes through the memories they created together.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Doreen, and their two cherished daughters, Rachael and her husband Howard Stozki, and Natalie and her husband Eric Stillson. William was a loving grandfather to Paige Lyons, Riley Stozki, Madelyn Lyons, and Devyn Stozki. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Patricia Scharff, Ruth Garibotto, Thomas Scharff, Dennis Scharff, and Kenneth Scharff. Additionally, he leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who will carry his legacy forward.
William is preceded in death by his parents, William Scharff and Elizabeth Scharff, whose lives he honored through his own actions of kindness and generosity. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
In loving memory of William we invite family and friends to come together to celebrate his remarkable life. A mass will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 8320 Old County Rd 54, New Port Richey, FL 34653.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support his wife Doreen in her retirement. His legacy will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who knew him.
