Where to See Professional Racing in 2018

If you live in New Jersey or the tristate area as many of you reading this website do, you are all pretty lucky. You have a ton of opportunities to check out professional motocross racing within a couple of hours drive from your home base.

Sure the NJ Supercross at Met Life is off the list in 2018 but there are several others you could attend and make a weekend out of it.

Let’s look at the schedule.

JAN 6 WEST Angel Stadium Anaheim, CA
JAN 13 WEST NRG Stadium Houston, TX
JAN 20 WEST Angel Stadium Anaheim, CA
JAN 27 WEST U. of Phoenix Stadium Glendale, AZ
FEB 3 WEST Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Oakland, CA
FEB 10 WEST PETCO Park San Diego, CA
FEB 17 EAST AT&T Stadium Arlington, TX
FEB 24 EAST Raymond James Stadium Tampa, FL
MAR 3 EAST Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta, GA
MAR 10 EAST Daytona Int’l Speedway Daytona, FL
MAR 17 EAST The Dome at America’s Center St. Louis, MO
MAR 24 EAST Lucas Oil Stadium Indianapolis, IN
APR 7 WEST CenturyLink Field Seattle, WA
APR 14 EAST U.S. Bank Stadium Minneapolis, MN
APR 21 EAST Gillette Stadium Foxborough, MA
APR 28 WEST Rice-Eccles Stadium Salt Lake City, UT
MAY 5 EAST/WEST Sam Boyd Stadium Las Vegas, NV

The best chance for a local to catch a supercross would be Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. Google Maps puts it at a 5-hour drive. You could also make a long weekend for either Florida or the Atlanta round. Flying into those cities is quick and easy and won’t usually break the bank if you book early.

What about Arenacross? Are there any close ones for us to attend? I’m glad you asked. Let’s look at their schedule.

JAN 6-7 Nutter Center, Dayton OH
JAN 13-14 DCU Center, Worcester MA
JAN 20-21 Mohegan Sun Arena, Wilkes Barre PA
JAN 27-28 Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC
FEB 10-11 Alliant Energy Center, Madison, WI
FEB 17-18 Florence Civic Center, Florence, SC
MAR 17-18 Denver Coliseum, Denver CO
MAR 24-25 Ford Idaho Center, Nampa, ID
APR 7-8 Intrust Bank Arena, Wichita, KS
APR 21-22 Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Portland, OR
APR 28-29 Livestock Events Center, Reno, NV
MAY 4-6 Orleans Arena, Las Vegas, NV

This series is even better for local fans and racers. Amateur racers can compete in the events and the first 4 rounds are within driving distance. Dayton is approx a 10-hour drive followed by 5 to Worcester, 3 to Wilkes Barre and 9 to Greensboro. And the finale in Las Vegas ties is the same time as the supercross finale giving you double the racing for your travel dollars.

Finally on to the Outdoor Motocross series.

The outdoor series also hosts amateur days at many rounds and there are 5 rounds with a 10-hour drive from central New Jersey. Mt Morris is 6, Tennessee is 10, Southwick is 4, Unadilla 5 and Budd’s Creek is 4.

With this in mind, you could attend a supercross, 2 arenacross and 3 outdoor motocross events within a 5-hour drive from central Jersey.

I’d say we have it pretty good. What rounds are you going to in 2018?
