Raceway Park Pit Bike 5/27/06

From Cycle News Online:

Gluck Plucks Premiere Stock-Plus Win

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ – Round two of the Trapani Pit Bike Series was held on Saturday evening, May 27. While many people were settling in to enjoy a Memorial Day barbecue, riders were preparing themselves for a great evening of racing under the lights at the famous Raceway Park motocross track. Racer and track builder Dakota Kessler laid out another challenging course, using the front section of the normal race track and part of the infield.

In 50cc Stock-plus (12-15) racing, a battle raged on throughout the entire first moto between Joe Gluck (129) and Matt Burnett. The Honda-mounted duo exchanged the lead several times throughout the race, and just when it looked like Gluck would take the win with a last-lap pass, Burnett held the gas on and jumped past Gluck at the finish to take the moto win.

The second moto again featured close racing, this time with Gluck taking the moto win. His 2-1 finishes were good enough for his first-ever overall victory. Freehold Honda-sponsored Chris Duymich (3-3) was second overall, and Burnett (1-5) was third overall.

Kessler was again a dominant racer in the Over 16 classes, winning both 50cc Modified (Over 16) motos, the second 50cc Open (Over 16) moto, and the 50cc (Over 16) Dash For Cash. The Pitster/Dragon/KPS-backed rider has been the class of the field so far this season, and he will certainly be the rider to watch as the series heats up this summer.

Stay tuned for round three on June 24.
