PREPARES FOR 36th ANNUAL KAWASAKI RACE OF CHAMPIONS
Old Bridge Townshipโs Raceway Park is getting ready for the 2012 edition of the Team Green Motocross Race of Champions, the east coastโs most prestigious Fall Classic Motocross Race. Over $8,500 in cash will be awarded, $12,000 worth of Kawasaki contingency is up for grabs, and FREE BIKES will also be awarded to three lucky Youth and Amateur competitors.
The event, sponsored by the Team Green, Kawasaki Motor Corp USA, and its participating Kawasaki dealers will take place starting on Friday, October 5th, with an open practice from 10 am to 4 pm. The weekend continues on Saturday, October 6th with a full day of Amateur and Semi-Pro racing featuring some of the best riders in the Northeast. Finally, Sunday, October 7th brings in the Pro Riders for the AMA Pro-Am Motocross Race with $8,500.00 cash up for grabs in the two premier Pro-Expert classes. Sunday will also offer special races throughout the day (see โmoreโ below) where free bikes will be given away in addition to the TRAXXAS DASH-FOR-CASH EVENT. Team Kawasakiโs Jake Weimer and Pro Circuitโs Darren Durham will also be in attendance offering autograph sessions and a special on track riding exhibition on board the 2013 model KXFโs.
Throughout the years, fans at Raceway Park have cheered motocross immortals like Ryan Villopoto, James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael, Tim Ferry, Michael Byrne, Jeff Emig, Ryan Hughes, Mike Kiedrowski, Johnny OโMara, Jeff Ward, Mike Larocco, Donnie Schmidt, Damon Huffman and dozens more as they race to the checkered flag to etch their names into the KROC record books. Some of todayโs biggest motocross stars like Jake Weimer will be joined by dozens of Kawasaki Team Green Support racers from all over the USA and over 600 other motocross racers.
For many of the KROC Motocross Competitors, the race has evolved into much more than an annual special Englishtown MX event. For those who seek to become a part of its mystique, winning this event has become a must-do to complete any great riderโs resume of event wins.
This years edition of the famed event features intense racing as riders from all over the country chasing their share of the $8,500+ Pro-Expert purse and over $12,000 in manufactures contingency postings and, more important, a spot in KROC history.
Four lucrative bonus events are guaranteed to increase the level of excitement for fans and riders during the weekend. The 2nd Annual TRAXXAS DASH-FOR-CASH Winner Take All event will feature the fastest Pro-Expert Racers competing in a one-lap dash for a brand new Traxxas R/C Truck and radio along with the cash. The very best trophy class racers from Saturdayโs KROC Amateur classes will qualify to return on Sunday to compete in the โIRONMAN CLASSICโ, โMINI CYCLE SHOOTOUTโ AND โKESSLER CUPโ events.
The complete 36th Anniversary Event Schedule is as follows: Friday, October 5th, gates open at 8 AM for early participant pit parking. Open practice on the actual race track will take place from 10-4 pm and early sign-up for Saturdayโs racing will take place all day Friday. Saturday, October 6th gates open 6:00 AM with sign up from 6-9:30 AM. Practice starts 8:30 AM with Trophy Class and Semi-Pro racing from 11:00 AM. Sunday, October 7th is the feature day; gates open at 7:00 AM with practice at 9:00 AM. Pre-elimination qualifiers 10:30 AM. Pre-Race Ceremonies with Rich Trevelise beginning at 12:00 PM. Feature racing including the KROC special exhibition event begins at 1:00 PM. Autograph sessions, vendors, and new Kawasaki Motorcycle display all afternoon. Tickets on sale at the gates only.
